Whatever route you choose the three b’s are essential in this movement: B.oost B.usiness B.aby!

How to boost your business without spending tons of money is the number one question I get asked. Well, the answer is simple: take what your clients already love and add a twist to it. For example, as a makeup artist, clients come to me every day for a fresh new look and fresh new products, so what I’ve incorporated in my business free how-to courses/tutorials. Now I know what you’re thinking: if its free, how is it boosting business? It’s simple: you charge for your product and not the course. The key to making someone interested in purchasing product or sparking their interest in anything, is giving them a full understanding and knowledge of what the product is and how to properly use it. Clients are thirsty for knowledge, and come to us as professionals for guidance. Teaching your client how to properly use the products will entice them to purchase more product simply because they know how to use it. The biggest complaint most people have when dealing with makeup is that they do not know how to properly apply it. If you teach your clients the proper application of each product it will definitely increase sales and keep your clients coming back for more.

One new course I’ve incorporated is teenage makeup classes. This class is designed for teenagers that want to start wearing makeup, but don’t know how to achieve a nice look without using tons of color and product. You can use this same method of free how-to courses for the hair industry as well. If you are a stylist and want to teach your clients how to maintain their hair when they can’t get to you, your free how-to course can incorporate the products (that you sell) they need to maintain the look you created for them. Remember, you don’t always have to increase your price to increase your sales! Knowledge is key. Provide your clients with knowledge and watch the business triple!

Michelle C. is a licensed Cosmetologist/professional celebrity makeup artist, as well as the president of Kissable Lips Cosmetics & Mc Designs Inc. and the U.N.V.us makeup agency.
