Nathalie Den Dekker, Miss Netherlands Universe 2012 and the official spokesmodel for the international hair company CHI, will be locked up in Haarlem on Friday, May 31 to raise money to support Free A Girl Foundation<\/strong>.\u00a0 Free a Girl gives priority to the fight against child prostitution and helps girls escape the exploitative conditions. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
Every year tens of thousands of young girls are kidnapped, sold to brothels and locked up in small dirty sheds where they are victim to serious acts of violence and abuse.\u00a0 Free A Girl Foundation<\/strong> has declared war against the unspeakable cruelty these girls have to endure.\u00a0 To support this fight against child prostitution, Dekker will be locked in a 1 x 2 meter space for 12 hours to raise money needed to rescue these girls. The donations will make it possible for the expansion or construction of new shelters where victims are given a fresh start at a new home, and offered education and trauma counseling.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\u201cI will be locked up in Haarlem in “Brasserie Nobel”. It’s a restaurant so I will be able to see people eating all day but I can’t eat myself. \u00a0I will only get one small bowl of rice during the twelve hour lock up because the victims only get enough food to survive. The idea is to experience a small part of what the victims of slavery and child prostitution endure each day. I am choosing to do this for 12 hours, but the victims have no choice and are forced to live like this every day,\u201d Dekker said. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\u201cMy heart goes out to children who cannot stand up for themselves. Please help me to assist in giving them back a world in which these girls dare to dream again,\u201d Dekker said. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

Dekker has been involved with this foundation for over a year and has visited the girls at a Free A Girl<\/strong> home, \u201cI really felt that I needed to take action.\u00a0 I wanted to do something myself, not just pay a short visit to the project; I wanted to initiate my own project for the foundation, something that would be of real value.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

Dekker went on to organize a charity run last summer that raised over 10,000 euros\u2014enough to rescue 200 girls.\u00a0 For every 50 euros that is raised they can free one girl. For every 20 euros extra Free A Girl<\/strong> can give these victims the after care and education they need to build a new future.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
