Georgia makeup artists reveals industry tips and kit essentials<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A<\/strong>ries Little is a homegrown, certified makeup artist located in Georgia. She grew up in a salon, so beauty has always been an important part of her life. She started doing what she called the \u201cdorm room special\u201d in college,<\/ins> where she would do people\u2019s hair for them. But it was when she kept getting requests for her makeup skills that Little actually found her calling. She would do makeup for people running for class office and other special events. After college, she took a job in Florida but found herself back in Georgia where she pursued her certification. \u201cI wanted to learn the more technical aspect as well as skin,\u201d Little said. She wanted to understand the \u201cwhy\u201d of beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Beauty Consultant (TBC): What are some essential products\nin your kit?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Little:<\/strong> The\nEvian facial spray is a must-have as well as the Urban Decay Primer Potion and\nthe setting spray. The makeup does not<\/em>\nmove.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TBC: What does beauty mean to you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Little:<\/strong> Being who you are. You can always enhance who you are to bring out what you love most about yourself. But that\u2019s all beauty is, being you. We\u2019re all unique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TBC: What has been your proudest moment as a beauty\nprofessional?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Little: <\/strong>Perfecting the smokey eye without looking like I have a black eye or making someone else looking like they have a black eye. It was something that I always shied away from. I was assisting someone at a show, and she was like, \u201cCan you do a smokey eye?\u201d and I\u2019m like, \u201cUh, maybe, no. I\u2019m scared.\u201d And she told me, \u201cWell, you\u2019re gonna learn today.\u201d And once she showed me, I was like, \u201cWhere have you been all my life?\u201d<\/em> That\u2019s one of my first proudest moments. The second one was when one of my mentors asked me to do work for her. And when I tell you that she\u2019s a stickler for precision and having things looking right, she\u2019s very<\/em> particular. She\u2019s in the hair industry, and when she trusted me to do work for her brand and her product, that was my second thing. I\u2019ve seen her expectations for her staff, and being able to break out with her has really been something else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take the opportunity to assist and learn, because that\u2019s fundamental training that you\u2019re not paying for, so always be open to that.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

TBC: What piece of advice would you give to aspiring makeup\nartists? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Little: <\/strong>Follow\nyour heart, and don\u2019t be afraid to learn. Take the opportunity to assist and\nlearn, because that\u2019s fundamental training that you\u2019re not paying for, so\nalways be open to that. And don\u2019t compare yourself \u00ad\u2014nothing happens overnight,\nespecially on social media. You don\u2019t know where someone else is on their journey\nto success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TBC: Lastly, any other industry tips for our readers?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Little:<\/strong> Take\ncare of your skin. Don\u2019t use makeup to hide things, that\u2019s what skincare is\nfor. When you have that perfect canvas, your whole look will come together. No\none thinks about their skin type, and they don\u2019t know what products they should\nuse. My number one is understanding skin and your skin type. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
