RUNWAY RECAP: BEHIND THE SCENES WITH INGLOT COSMETICS

 

James Vincent, makeup artist for INGLOT created over seven looks for NYFW Spring/Summer 2013, and here he dishes on the inspiration and products to achieve each look

 

Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne took inspiration from Avril herself with a bold red lip paired with a stark, black smoky eye. Tumbler and Tipsy take their unique combination of color and texture to the runway with a makeup look that celebrates their carnival like collection of glitter and shine.  “The makeup design for BlacMera was simple and beautiful to compliment the bold colors, graphics and eclectic textures of the show. The raw silk and multi-patterned designs have drama on their own and simple makeup made an elegant and poignant impact. Foundation was nude with INGLOT foundation and powder while a bold red lip with INGLOT was balanced with a polished brow. For Front Row the designers dared to push the envelope with a makeup that went beyond expectation. With a collection of black and white leather in unexpected shapes and cuts the palette was kept simple and dramatic for makeup with the only color coming from the INGLOT Red Gel liner used under the eye. Paired with a liberal amount of mascara and two sets of faux lashes onto the lid the look was strong and striking. Gold shadow # provided a bit of glitz and glam but the shocking nude lip was a beautiful and bold addition to a makeup that was unique.” James Vincent, celebrity makeup artist and Director of Artistry and Education for The Makeup Show

Bonkuk Koo’s tailored shapes and simple color palette presented an elegant and old school glamorous look. The makeup was kept simple with a soft wash of champagne on the lid from INGLOT eye shadow and black gel liner swept along the lash line. Daisy Fuentes strong and feminine collection got its feel from the designers Gypsy inspiration. For this collection I looked back to fashion legend Yves St Laurent and paired mined metal shadows with a seductively smokey eye. INGLOT shadows and gel liners in deep rich shades were applied smokily over smudges of black pencil.
