Miss Black Southeast Universe and The Weave Shop- Stonecrest partner for Diamond Tiara Girls 1st Annual Leadership and Community Service Award Ceremony

 

“An award ceremony recognizing high school senior and junior girls from two local Atlanta high schools for exceptional leadership and community service.”


Miss Black Southeast Universe, Lakisha Brooks, her nonprofit organization Diamond Tiara Girls, Inc (DTG) and The Weave Shop-Stonecrest  will  host the first annual “Model WithIn Me” leadership and community service award ceremony on Saturday April 20, 2013 at 1 pm.


The “Model WithIn Me” leadership award ceremony will recognize 29 high school junior and senior girls from Martin Luther King High School and Miller Grove High School. School counselors, teachers and administratives nominated these accomplished young women.  The top five winners will receive an award, tiara, “model makeover”, professional photo shoot and giveaways.


Atlanta Socialite Jamilah Rouse will serve as the celebrity host for the event and So So Def Recording Artist Dondria, will be the special celebrity guest providing inspirational and encouraging words to the nominees.
Other community supporters include: Higher Family Achievement, Shades of Glory Catering, The Sir Ty Experience and JBS Hair.

 


About DTG: Founded in 2011 by former MTV Made coach Lakisha Brooks, Diamond Tiara Girls, seeks to help as many young women as possible become successful leaders. After competing in pageants for years and appearing on the hit show MTV Made, Ms. Brooks saw a need to make a difference in the lives of many young women.
Diamond Tiara Girls’ mission is to strengthen the confidence in youth and young women through empowerment and defining ones best self. They teach young women how to build self-esteem and love themselves inside and out. DTG conducts empowerment sessions to provide life skills such as public speaking, interviewing, financial planning, resume writing, etiquette and leadership, as well as, health and beauty, which include hair and makeup, attire and nutrition.
