Trends and Hot Picks from Cosmoprof Las Vegas 2012

Las Vegas in July? Really? Absolutely……It was sizzling with new indie brands and innovative products. Retailers, salon owners, marketing experts, as well as key beauty insiders converged on one of the most important beauty shows of the year, Cosmoprof North America. Encompassing everything beauty, there were some key trends and hot products coming out of this year’s show.

Trendwise, there’s a new spin on treatment oils. Natural and organic products are gaining mainstream momentum and are must-haves. Lastly, salon quality masks go DIY! Hot product picks for me were the Bio Elixia Body Shaper, gLOVE Treat Paraffin hand and feet glove treatments and Bella Semplice Eye and Face gels.

If you are looking for treatment oils, whether it is for the hair or skin, there is more than argan or moroccan oil. We thank the moroccan oil peeps for making gems like this available and friendly for the customer. I wrote about this oil 5 years ago, and have been a fan ever since. Essential oils from distant lands were showcased this year. Oils and brands like Manuela, Manuka, Agave, and Tamanu shared ancient stories from native lands, and their unique positioning. These oils are jammed packed with super anit-oxidants,as well as powered with anti aging benefits.

With the emergence of essentials oils being more and more relevant in the market, Natural and organic products are becoming more accepted. Many of these brands too have their unique story, but most important their anti aging claims. At most pavilions, it was obvious that you need to be paraben-free, sulfate-free and free of artificial fragrances. Don’t come to the party if you are still touting old chemically laden products.

Regardless of what the ingredient deck looks like or how pretty the package may be, consumers are still looking for DIY products that are easy and deliver immediate results. WOW! Did I find some amazing things! Lets talk about masks… not cream in the tube or peel offs. Masks used in the spa that have been created for EASY at home use. These Gel masks are cooling to the skin, and contain powerful ingredients that absorb…..the results are immediate. It is not only the feel good, feel hydrated. No…..After trying a eye gel from Bella Semplice for puffiness and dark circles, I was AMAZED. I have tried everything, and nothing worked. This is a keeper for me. My eyes were brilliant and puff free!!!!

Bio Elixir Body Shaper actually helps to reduce cellulite. Coming from Australia, this product’s patented delivery system (TPM Delivery Technology) along with its unique anti-cellulite ingredients helps to reduce the appearance of cellulite in just 4 weeks!

How many of us have had a paraffin mask treatment on our hands as well as our feet. We’ve tried it and loved the results Unfortunately, they can cost more than a mani or pedi and it just adds additional time to the salon appointment. gLOVE Treat is a great alternative to the paraffin wax treatments in the salon and has better results. This patent pending paraffin glove or sock envelopes the skin, stays warm and leaves your skin hydrated, refreshed and revitalized with the benefits of the wax as well as pure essential oils.

Out of all the products I tested, smeared and tasted (yes tasted!), the top 3 products that are going to be in my beauty arsenal include:

Donna Pick’s

  1. Bio Elixia Body Shaper
  2. gLOVE Treat Paraffin hand and feet glove treatments
  3. Bella Semplice Eye and Face gels
